This day first is about the two of you. We want to reveal who you are.
We want to capture the story of your wedding day with a blending of contemporary photojournalism and traditional wedding portraits. Our goal is to produce images, which bring out the individuality of the Bride and Groom and captures the spirit of the occasion. We want to show the bond between family and friends. In a fun and free spirited photographic style, our aim is to preserve the spontaneous emotions of this day.
I had the good fortune to have studied photography at UCLA under the tutelage of Edmund Teske. His photographic works have been acquired over his lifetime by major museums. The Getty recently held a retrospective of his acquired works.
Edmund Teske’s method of teaching was to encourage you to delve into the unconventional when photographing with black and white film. He wanted nothing less than for you to explore and interpret the extreme limits and effects of light and chemistry when developing those images into prints.
These methods of interpreting subjects from a different perspective have been influenced our portraits and wedding photography work, and furthered by sons, Rick and Alex Brooks. Having been exposed to photography from an early age, they have evolved into specialists in wedding photography and have developed creative skills to produce striking, beautiful images all the while keeping the atmosphere light and relaxed.
